Sujata Chaudhri, Founder and Owner

Sujata Chaudhri is the firm’s founder and owner. Formerly an equity partner at Cowan, Liebowitz and Latman , P.C, a leading IP law firm in New York City, Sujata relocated to India to head IP Gurus (now merged with Anand and Anand), before setting up Sujata Chaudhri IP Attorneys.

Sujata is admitted to practice law in India and the United States. She has a bachelor’s degree in law from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University and a masters in law from Franklin Pierce Law Center (now University of New Hampshire Law School), New Hampshire, United States of America.

Sujata has extensive experience in IP litigation, enforcement, prosecution and transactions in the United States and India (particularly in the area of trade marks).

Sujata was formerly an adjunct professor at the Franklin Pierce Centre for Intellectual Property, University of New Hampshire Law School, and continues to serve on the advisory board of the law school. She has also co-taught a seminar course on international trade marks at the New York University (NYU) School of Law. In India Sujata delivers lectures on practice-based topics at Jindal Global Law School.

Sujata has been a frequent speaker on branding and trade mark issues in the United States and India. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and is co-chair of the section’s international committee.


Vijay Malhotra, General Manager-Operations

Vijay is in-charge of the operations at the firm, and holds complete responsibility for framing policies at the firm, and overseeing all processes and systems, providing an efficient back-office support to the firm’s fee earners.

Vijay has more than thirty (30) years experience in end-to-end business operations in various industries and understands the nuances and importance of efficient and effective back end operations which enable the growth of an organisation.


Deeksha Anand, Senior Associate

Deeksha’s practice focuses on trade mark and design prosecution, including prosecuting international applications filed through the World Intellectual Property Organization, and trademark opposition and cancellation actions. She regularly advises clients on contested matters across diverse industries, including, apparel, accessory, automobile, pharmaceutical, sports, tobacco and e-commerce. She also has experience in handling domain name disputes and transfers.

Besides her advisory practice, Deeksha also assists with the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution practice, and often appears before various judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, such as the Delhi High Court, civil district courts, the Intellectual Property Appellate Board and the Trade Marks Registry.

Urfee Roomi, Senior Associate

Urfee’s practice focuses on trade mark, copyright and customs prosecution and enforcement matters, including oppositions, cancellations and litigation. He has also worked on prosecuting international applications filed through the World Intellectual Property Organization, and has experience in handling domain name disputes and also works on criminal enforcement efforts for clients.

He regularly counsels clients on both advisory and contested matters, in the apparel, luxury goods, automobile, pharmaceutical, professional sports, technology, and retail industries. Urfee also practices law before various judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, such as the civil district courts, the Delhi High Court and the Trade Marks Registry.


Shruhita Amit, Senior Associate

Shruhita’s practice focuses on trade mark and copyright prosecution, including prosecuting international applications filed through the World Intellectual Property Organization, and opposition and cancellation actions. She regularly advises clients on contested matters across diverse industries, including, apparel, accessory, automobile, pharmaceutical, sports, tobacco and e-commerce. She frequently represents clients at all kind of hearings held at the Trade Marks Registry.

Besides her advisory practice, Shruhita also assists with the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution practice, and often appears before various judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, such as the Delhi High Court, civil district courts and the Intellectual Property Appellate Board.


Ajaya 1

Ajaya Kumar, Associate and Manager (Trade Mark Prosecution and Oppositions)

Ajaya is an Associate and Manager (Trade Mark Prosecution and Oppositions) with over fifteen (15) years of experience in the trade marks field.  Ajaya has vast experience in handling opposition matters, and in managing large IP portfolios for clients.  He routinely assists the firm’s attorneys in advising clients on opposition strategies and in monitoring contested matters at the five (5) Trade Mark Registries.

Janaki Arun, Associate

Janaki’s practice focuses on trademark prosecution and opposition proceedings. She has experience advising clients on trademark prosecution and opposition matters in a wide variety of industries, including luxury goods, electronics, financial services, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages. Janaki has conducted all phases of trademark prosecution and clearance at the Indian Trade Marks Registry.


Akriti Dhagga, Associate

Akriti’s practice focuses on opposition proceedings and trademark prosecution. She has experience advising clients on matters in a wide variety of industries, including apparel, accessory, automobile, pharmaceutical, tobacco, electronics, food and beverages. She also works on trademark customs prosecution and enforcement matters.


Madhurima Gadre, Associate

Madhurima’s practice focuses on trademark prosecution and opposition proceedings. She has experience advising clients on trademark prosecution and opposition matters across diverse industries, including apparel, automobile, pharmaceutical, tobacco, electronics, food and beverages. She also has experience in handling domain name disputes and trademark enforcement matters


Kriti Malik, Associate

Kriti’s practice focuses on trademark prosecution and oppositions. Kriti regularly advises clients on refusals issued by the Trade Marks Registry and drafts and files responses to Examination Reports and provisional refusals.  Kriti is also experienced in handling opposition proceedings before the Registry.


Vishesh  Kumar, Associate

Vishesh’s practice focuses on trademark prosecution and contested matters, including, but not limited to, oppositions, cancellation actions and civil and criminal enforcement. He appears before various courts and tribunals, including the Delhi High Court, the Trade Marks Registry and the Intellectual Property Appellate Board.


Sandeep Gupta, Associate

Sandeep’s practice  focuses on trademark  prosecution and clearance.  He is entrusted with clearance work for one of the firm’s large clients.  Prior to joining the firm, Sandeep was an Examiner of Trade Marks at the Trade Marks Registry, Mumbai.

Amay is a recent law graduate and a junior associate at the firm. Amay routinely assists  in advising clients across diverse industries on both contentious and non-contentious trademark matters.

Jaswant 1

Jaswant Singh, Senior Paralegal

Jaswant is a senior paralegal at the firm with over ten (10) years of experience in IP litigation and trademarks prosecution.  Jaswant handles filings in courts and assists the firm’s litigators.  He also researches infringements and assists the firm’s attorneys in advising clients on action against problematic products/brands.  Jaswant is also experienced in matters at the Trade Marks Registry, the Intellectual Property Appellate Board and the Copyright Office, and assists in moving client matters forward at these fora.


Adya Prasad, Senior Paralegal

Adya has over seven (7) years of experience in handling prosecution/ opposition matters and in managing large IP portfolios for clients. He works closely with the firm’s attorneys.  Before joining Sujata Chaudhri IP Attorneys he worked with a thetrade marks team of a large Indian law firm.


Dinesh 1

Dinesh Singh, Paralegal

Dinesh is an experienced paralegal and focuses on trade mark prosecution across the five (5) Trade Marks Registries of the country. Dinesh handles filings at the Registries, advises clients on compliance requirements at the Registries, handles objections raised by the Registries and works closely with the firm’s attorneys to ensure that deadlines are met.
